Active and Passive- Present Tense

🔹 What is Active & Passive Voice?

  • Active Voice: Subject does the action
    👉 Ali writes a letter.

  • Passive Voice: Subject receives the action
    👉 A letter is written by Ali.

✅ 1. Present Simple Tense

🔸 Structure

  • Active: Subject + V1 (+ s/es) + Object

  • Passive: Object + is/am/are + Verb 3 + by Subject

🔸 Examples

  1. Ali writes a letter.
    ➝ A letter is written by Ali.

  2. She cleans the room.
    ➝ The room is cleaned by her.

  3. They play cricket.
    ➝ Cricket is played by them.

✅ 2. Present Continuous Tense

🔸 Structure

  • Active: Subject + is/am/are + V-ing + Object

  • Passive: Object + is/am/are + being + Verb 3 + by Subject

🔸 Examples

  1. Ali is writing a letter.
    ➝ A letter is being written by Ali.

  2. She is washing clothes.
    ➝ Clothes are being washed by her.

  3. They are watching a movie.
    ➝ A movie is being watched by them.

✅ 3. Present Perfect Tense

🔸 Structure

  • Active: Subject + has/have + V3 + Object

  • Passive: Object + has/have been + V3 + by Subject

🔸 Examples

  1. Ali has written a letter.
    ➝ A letter has been written by Ali.

  2. She has completed her work.
    ➝ Her work has been completed by her.

  3. They have finished the task.
    ➝ The task has been finished by them.

🎯 Quick Tip for Students

👉 Object of Active = Subject of Passive
👉 Always use 3rd form (V3) in passive
👉 Add “by + doer” (optional sometimes)
