Six Basic Grammar Rules in English Rule No. 5  Auxiliary "Has, have, & Had" are used with the Past Participle. Examples: He has done  nothing wrong. I have written  my novels. She had done his work before I did.  In the Present Tense, I, we, they, you, & plural noun take 'have' and he, she it and a singular noun take 'has' For Examples: 1. I have taken my test today. 2. He has paid his dues. 3. They have done their duty. and  In the Past Tense, only 'had' is used with all singular and plural nouns. 4. I had done my test before they did. 5.
