Gerund or Verbal Noun It is a  ~ing form of the verb that is used in Six Important Ways: 1. as a Noun (as a Subject) Walking is a habit. Smoking is injurious to health. Writing is my passion. Playing is essential for children's development. 2. As an object (as an Object of the Verb) Majid has stopped smoking. She loves writing stories. Some of them stopped and stood watching that. He enjoys playing football. 3. As of the Preposition  Majid is accused of smoking. They are engaged in planning. He is good at writing with his left hand. She's good at playing with children. 4.
