Six Basic Grammar Rules in English

Rule No. 5 

Auxiliary "Has, have, & Had" are used with the Past Participle.
Examples:
  • He has done nothing wrong.
  • I have written my novels.
  • She had done his work before I did. 
In the Present Tense, I, we, they, you, & plural noun take 'have' and he, she it and a singular noun take 'has'
For Examples:
1. I have taken my test today.
2. He has paid his dues.
3. They have done their duty. and 
In the Past Tense, only 'had' is used with all singular and plural nouns.
4. I had done my test before they did.
5. He had made many mistakes before growing older.

Explanation:   'made' is used in the Present Tense.

Explanation:   "invited" is used with 'have' in the Present Perfect Tense.

Explanation:    Children have bought many toys to play.

Explanation:    They had written many letters before I wrote to them.

Explanation:    You have sung many songs.

ANSWER= (C) deceived 
Explanation:     They have deceived their friends.

ANSWER= (B) eaten   
Explanation:   We have eaten the meal.

ANSWER= (B) flown    
Explanation:   The birds have flown away.

13. The children have _____ themselves at the party





ANSWER= (D) enjoyed    
Explanation:   They have enjoyed themselves at the party.

14. They _____ their time a lot





ANSWER= (B) have wasted   
Explanation:    They have wasted their time a lot.

15. We have _____ watching movies





ANSWER= (C) enjoyed    
Explanation:     Third form of the verb is used with 'have' .  

16. We  have _____ a cricket match today





ANSWER= (C) played    
Explanation:    We have played a cricket match today.  

17. They have _____ their manager the best.





ANSWER= (B) declared 
Explanation:   They have declared their manager the best.   

18.  They had ____ breakfast before I ate.   





ANSWER= (C) eaten 
Explanation: Would They had eaten breakfast before I ate.

Explanation: He stared at me at the party yesterday.

Explanation:   We have delayed the match.
