 Use of Rise, Arise, Raise and Arouse


Rise (intransitive- from downward to upward)

Rise      rose     risen    risning

Arise    arose arisen       arising

(happen, occur)

There arose many questions in the class.

                             (subject)

Students raised many questions (object) in the class. (Transitive Verb + object)

Many questions were raised by the students.

We shall raise crops and children.

Raise       raised      raised      raised

They have raised the prices of the goods.

Arouse       aroused            aroused            arousing

The whole community was aroused by the crime.

The door bell aroused me.

My curiosity was aroused.

This stunning scene has aroused my curiosity. Allah has created a beautiful world. A world that invites us to think about His creations. We cannot help praising Allah Almighty who has created this vast and beautiful universe.

We cannot help (without doing it) + gerund

cannot help but + base form

We cannot help but weep.

We could not help but weep.


Examples: 

1. The sun rises in the east daily. In the morning

2. A sense of excitement began to arise within me as I anticipated the upcoming event.

3. He raised his hand to ask a question during the lecture.

4. The loud noise raised my suspicions and I went to investigate.

5. The passionate speech by the politician aroused the crowd, and they cheered loudly.

6. She felt a surge of determination arose within her as she faced the difficult challenge.

7. The teacher raised her voice to get the attention of the noisy students.

8. The smell of freshly baked bread in the morning aroused my appetite.

9. The unexpected news of her promotion raised her spirits and brought a smile to her face.

10. The thrilling movie aroused a range of emotions in the audience, from fear to excitement.

Translation:

1. کل صبح سورج مشرق میں طلوع ہوگا۔

2. میرے اندر جوش و خروش کا احساس پیدا ہونے لگا جب میں نے آنے والے واقعے کا اندازہ لگایا۔

3. اس نے لیکچر کے دوران سوال پوچھنے کے لیے ہاتھ اٹھایا۔

4. اونچی آواز نے میرے شکوک کو جنم دیا اور میں تحقیقات کرنے چلا گیا۔

5. سیاست دان کی پرجوش تقریر نے ہجوم کو مشتعل کردیا، اور انہوں نے زور سے خوشی کا اظہار کیا۔

6. اس نے محسوس کیا کہ اس مشکل چیلنج کا سامنا کرتے ہوئے اس کے اندر عزم کی ایک لہر پیدا ہوتی ہے۔

7. استاد نے شور مچانے والے طلباء کی توجہ حاصل کرنے کے لیے آواز بلند کی۔

8. صبح کے وقت تازہ پکی ہوئی روٹی کی بو نے میری بھوک کو جگایا۔

9. اس کی ترقی کی غیر متوقع خبر نے اس کے حوصلے بلند کیے اور اس کے چہرے پر مسکراہٹ آگئی۔

10۔ سنسنی خیز فلم نے سامعین میں خوف سے لے کر جوش و خروش تک مختلف جذبات کو ابھارا۔

Lie   lied   lied   lying

(Intransitive Verb)

1.    She lies to me.

2.    She lied to me.

3.    She will lie to me.

4.    She is lying to me.

1. وہ مجھ سے جھوٹ بولتی ہے۔

2. اس نے مجھ سے جھوٹ بولا۔

3. وہ مجھ سے جھوٹ بولے گی۔

4. وہ مجھ سے جھوٹ بول رہی ہے۔

Lie   lay        lain lying
(Intransitive Verb)

1.    She lies in the bed.

2.    She has been lying in the bed since morning.

3.    The mobile is lying there.

4.    She lay in the bed yesterday.

5.    There lay the mobile yesterday.

6.    She will lie in the bed tomorrow.

1. وہ بستر پر لیٹی ہے۔

2. وہ صبح سے بستر پر لیٹی ہوئی ہے۔

3. موبائل وہیں پڑا ہے۔

4. وہ کل بستر پر لیٹی تھی۔

5. کل موبائل وہاں پڑا تھا۔

6. وہ کل بستر پر لیٹ جائے گی۔

Lay laid    laid    laying (Transitive Verb) + object

7.  I laid the money in the bank.

8.  She has laid the mobile on the table.

9.  The hen lays eggs.

10.             I have laid the eggs in the fridge.

Exercise:

11.             I saw some people who were laying the flowers on the grave. (lay)

12.             I saw some flowers which were lying on the graves. (lie)

7. میں نے رقم بینک میں رکھی۔

8. اس نے موبائل میز پر رکھ دیا ہے۔

9. مرغی انڈے دیتی ہے۔

10. میں نے انڈے فریج میں رکھے ہیں۔

ورزش:

11. میں نے کچھ لوگوں کو دیکھا جو قبر پر پھول چڑھا رہے تھے۔ (پچھاڑنا)

12. میں نے کچھ پھول دیکھے جو قبروں پر پڑے تھے۔ (جھوٹ)

13. وہاں کنگھی پڑی تھی اور ڈیلا رو رہی تھی۔ (جھوٹ)

14.             I have written a poem. (a poem has been written by me)

15.             She has laid the mobile on the table. (The mobile has been laid by her on the table.)

16.             I laid the table beside the window. (the table was laid by me beside the window.

17.             The table has lain beside by the window.

18.             The birds are laying in their nests.

19.             The birds are lying in the sun.

20.             The birds are laying in the sun.

Use of “going to”

Topic:

Use of ‘going to”, it is used for near future but it’s in Present Tense

1.   I am going to do something = I have decided to do something, I intend to do it.

= I am going to buy some books tomorrow.

3.   Sara is going to sell her car.

4.   I am going to take a shower.

5.   I am not going to have breakfast this morning.
